Welcoming the Light

Change is coming—let’s be the ones to invite it in.

Welcoming the Light is a one-night online gathering for women who are ready to usher in a brighter 2021. Together we will speak our hopes aloud and invite a new promise for the year ahead.

Our lives and our world are marked by seasons of darkness and light. Some—like the gradual lengthening of winter nights or the monthly waning of the moon—are predictable in their cycles. Others, like many “dark nights of the soul” or global crises, take us by surprise.

We may not always know how or when a change will come, but any time we find ourselves in darkness, we can be sure that the light is coming.

There has been plenty of darkness in the past year—global pandemic, racial reckoning, political unrest, family disruption and untold personal troubles. But I believe we are beginning to see a glimmer of gold at the edge of the horizon—the glimmer of healing, reconciliation and peace.

Together we can create the space in our hearts to welcome this new light and to prepare the way for its arrival.

This is the work I invite you to begin on January 12 at Welcoming the Light.

This is NOT a goal-setting workshop, and there will be no “new year's resolutions” here! Instead you’ll find a circle of strong, hopeful women who are ready to take an active role in the next chapter of this shared journey called life.

Here’s how it works:

  • We’ll gather on Zoom from 8-10 p.m. ET (find your local time) on Tuesday, January 12th. We can appreciate the symbolism of that day’s new moon 🌚 —a moment of darkness that will once again turn to light.

  • I’ll lead us in a guided centering practice to ground us in the present moment and turn us toward our hopes for the future.

  • We’ll engage in reflective journaling on the season that is ending and the one that comes next, including a plan to care for ourselves as we do the work of welcoming the light.

  • We’ll each create a beautiful paper lantern, inscribed with our intentions and invitations for the year ahead, and we’ll use our lanterns to symbolically send those intentions out into the universe.

  • Along the way there will be music, poetry and opportunities to share with one another. Ultimately, we’ll find strength in ourselves and in one another to carry us into 2021, looking forward with hope and taking action with intention.

Workshop Cost: $21

What happens next?

After you sign up, you’ll receive a confirmation email. A day or two before the workshop I’ll send you an email with the evening’s Zoom link, plus a PDF file of your journaling prompts and lantern template for you to print at home.

When we gather on the evening of January 12th, I invite you to log in from a quiet, comfortable space. Pour yourself a cup of something comforting, and bring your printed materials, plus: a pen or pencil for writing; colored pencils, crayons or markers; scissors; tape and a small candle (preferably battery-operated).

Ready to welcome the light on January 12th?

Registration is now closed.

*Please Note: Due to the personal and reflective nature of this event, it will not be recorded. No refunds will be given—full or partial—at any time. Think of it like buying a ticket to your favorite live concert—you’re purchasing a seat in that arena, whether you show up or not. If you sign up then find you cannot attend, please consider sharing your ticket with another woman who might like to join us.

Hi, I’m Cat!

I help people get intentional with their ‘me time’ so they can focus on what really matters in life. I work with women, creatives, and anyone who feels a connection between themselves and the greater story of things.

I believe that taking care of your spiritual self is a beautiful way to remind yourself of your own innate belovedness.

In my own ‘me time,’ I enjoy all manner of fiber crafts (sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery), cooking Chopped-style from whatever's in the fridge, brainstorming in my journal, and curling up with a good YA novel.

I created Welcoming the Light for women to come together to honor their hopes in community and to kick off 2021 with a big dose of collective creativity and intention.

Praise for Opt Inward’s online events:
